He has led and executed projects across several African countries, including Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, and Cameroon. Nelson is the founder of Alela Technology and chairs the board of #defyhatenow, contributing significantly to initiatives combating hate speech and promoting peace. His expertise in strategic leadership, digital rights, and peacebuilding will be critical as Digital Rights Frontlines (DRF) expands its scope into broader areas of digital rights advocacy and media literacy​.

Wani Steven

Lawyer : Intellectual property and ICT Policy Specialist

Steven Wani is a lawyer specializing in technology, internet regulations, and intellectual property law. He has over nine years of experience and serves as a partner at Witness Law Advocates, working across East and Northern Africa. He is involved in projects on content moderation and digital rights in the region and serves as a consultant on digital rights and access to the internet. His deep legal expertise in digital rights, data protection, and technology regulations will be instrumental in guiding DRF's policy advocacy efforts​.

Garang Abraham

Communication Specialist

Garang Abraham is a communications and media professional with nine years of experience in journalism, research, and media training. He has worked with organizations like UNHCR , UNICEF and the BBC, developing communication strategies and advocating for key humanitarian issues. His leadership in multimedia content creation, strategic communication, and advocacy will support DRF's efforts to expand its reach and impact in digital rights and media literacy campaigns​. Garang won second place in the 2022 AU-EU Digital for Development (#D4Dblogging) competition, which aimed to address online disinformation through human rights-based actions.

Faith Mundua

Communication Specialist

Faith Mundua is a dynamic communications professional with extensive experience in public relations, project management, and digital media. She has worked as a Communications Manager at Mindhub Communication Agency and as an Executive Communications Assistant for #defyhatenow, where she was responsible for high-level communication with stakeholders and media. Her skills in digital media management, stakeholder relations, and event planning will enhance DRF's external visibility and engagement efforts​.

Moira Onek

Lawyer : Tech Regulation and Policy Specialist

Moira Ayo is a lawyer and tech advocate passionate about civic tech and digital inclusion in Africa. She has served as an Executive Assistant at the National Communication Authority (NCA) and worked on policy development related to telecommunications and ICT, including the Data Protection Bill. Her legal expertise in digital rights and data protection will help DRF advocate for progressive digital laws and policies, driving human development and civil rights​.
